HISTORY
Our Innovation Journey
The International Centre for Humanitarian Affairs at KRCS established an innovation unit in 2018. The unit received funding from the Airbus Foundation for two innovation-focused projects in Kenya, and approved a proposal to create an innovation lab in Lamu. This shows KRCS’s commitment to drive research, advocate for change, and foster innovation within the national society while prioritizing resilience, positive impact, stakeholder identification, and community investment.
In 2020, KRCS launched its first innovation lab, empowering over 2,000 youth and facilitating various initiatives including cash assistance, drones for surveillance, and digital solutions. This has led to a shift in mindset, community empowerment, and equal opportunities for children, gaining global recognition as a trusted advisor in humanitarian innovation.
